Help! Stuck in overdrive?

Are you caught in the whirlpool? Run run run, can't slow down? Rapid fire moments?

It's hard to calm down, especially if you're in the thick of it RIGHT NOW.

Do this in steps or simultaneously. Should take under a minute.

  • See It

Catching yourself in the act is huge. You should be proud of yourself, this is very hard to do. You noticed you need to calm down, relax. Very good!

  • Breathe

Take a nice breath. Doesn't have to be perfect, maybe take a couple. Imagine inhaling warm sunlight.

  • Label Things

In your head, identify things around you. Don't use judgment, just fact.

Blue pen, beige desk, bright tv, yellow shirt.

Avoid “nice shoes”, “mean person”, stuff like that.

  • Breathe

Okay, now another breath or two.

  • Come back

Calmly restore your presence 100% in the conversation and revisit this as needed.
